Clutch Replacement Cost by State (2026)

Most of the variance between two clutch quotes is the shop’s hourly rate, not the parts. A Civic clutch is the same job in Wichita and San Francisco. Here is what that costs across the country, with the labour-rate range and a total cost band for a reference Civic.

Most-searched states, expanded

Each top-state row includes shop hourly rate range and the total cost band for a reference Civic clutch job at that state’s labour rates plus typical parts cost. Metro variance noted in the right-hand column.

How we calculated the state figures

Hourly rate ranges sourced from AAA labour-rate surveys (most recent published), BLS auto repair industry data, and a sample of shop quotes collected by ZIP code. Total cost band uses a Honda Civic clutch job as the reference: 6 to 8 hours of labour at the state’s rate, plus a $400 OEM-equivalent kit, plus shop supplies.

Metro-level variance is significant in the largest states. The per-state notes call out where San Francisco vs Central Valley, NYC vs upstate, or Atlanta vs rural Georgia diverge. For luxury, performance, and truck platforms, multiply the state band by the ratio of your vehicle’s typical cost vs the Civic reference.
